Splinter Cell online problem

Splinter Cell (PS2) is not connecting to the UBI server and I can't figure out why. I have everything set up and when I try to connect, it says "cannot connect to UBI. Please try again later". I don't understand. Is there anyone that has encountered the same problem? If so, how is it overcome? Thanks.
