What's the best stuff to paint my pressure treated softwood decking with and where's the best place to buy it in North Dublin ? Someone recommended some oil from Noyeks and I was advised to quote a tradesmans name to get his special price. Forget the name of the stuff and would like a second opinion anyway.

There are special oils sounding like C60 or something at 90 euro a litre and are hardcore, longlife deep penetrating oils. Other brands made by Akzo Nobel are mid range, cheaper but half decent.

You have about a year before you need to treat deck planking that is already pressure treated.

Wood will shrink along its axis and expel surplus moisture over a period of time in summer weather, lending the harder, dryer wood ready for additional treatment and UV rays will mellow away the green tinge of colour seen in the new pressure treated planks.

Stain all planks with a light or antique pine type stain and then apply oil, so as not to go too dark from the start.

All in one stain/varnish type products like Sadolin, will peel off after about a year, earlier with more moisture in the wood.
