Every few months our company receives an order form from this the European City Guide, requesting our signature on it to place a listing in the guide. In the really small print at the bottom you realise you are signing for three insertions at a cost of E937.00 each.
The blurb in the letter says you will receive a copy of the guide on CD. Theres no web address, and it does not give any distribution details for the guide. It is described as an inter-professional Guide, but it would seem that the only people who receive it are those who sign up.

My feeling on this is to steer well clear, Ive always thought this was a complete scam in the same vein as those Dutch lottery letters. Has anyone responded to this company, and what was the outcome?

It's a long running scam, just ignore them. You can find a load of stuff about them on Google. The European Consumer Centre has plenty of advice for companies if you get caught out. Do not pay them even though they will threaten legal action, they don't have a leg to stand on.
