Just wondering how much people have paid out in insurance over the years and how much they claimed back. I'll get the ball rolling:

    Years insured: 6
    Total premium paid: €10,200
Total claimed: one claim for a new windscreen, so whatever that costs.

Years insured (combining both motorbike and car premiums here, and taking pound -> euro change into account): 6... 2 years on a scooter, 2 years on a (slow) bike, and 2 years in cars. Most of it all on full licences.
Total premium paid: €6179, give or take a tenner
Total claimed: £700 (roughly €925) for a stupid accident with the scooter when I was 16. Throttle got stuck and crashed it into the side of a 4x4. The 700 was for panel beating/spraying.

I'm not even going to add it up, but at least I have the satisfaction of a pay-out!

Years insured 19. I'm guessing my total premiums paid at around €25,000. One claim, in 1987, for IR£30,000. Looks like it'll take them another 20 years or so to break even on me!

Years insured: 6.5 (4 on a bike, 2.5 in totals on cars)
    Total Paid: €16,250

    Total Paid: €12,000 roughly
    Total Paid out: €0 precisely

My car driving tester still failed me the b*****d, clearly i'm unsafe on the road.

    Years insured: 12
    Total Premium: €22500
Total Payout: No idea but had 2 claims.. just handed it over to the insurance company and cried at the thought of my next premium quote :(

Not too bad now but then again if I traded in my car, the sales guy might offer me a lukewarm cup of coffee and his half eaten sandwich in exchange :D

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    Total premia: many thousands
Total claims: one claim after a junkie smashed in the window with a brick and ripped out the CD player

Damage about £500 iirc...It wasn't my fault of course, so my NCB was not affected and my premium did not increase. Although I have heard people claim that a break-in affected their NCB?

Like most I have paid out several thousand over the years and never claimed.
I did pursue a claim 11 years ago when knocked down by a motorist. I recieved IR£5k and presumably both the drivers and my legal fees were substantially more!

Generally it's a "no claims bonus" as specifically opposed to a "no blame bonus".

You just lose your comprehensive NCB and keep your third party NCB though.

I'm turing 25 in September guys, will my insurance drop a bit as it's up for renewal in November?

Should do yeah. Also make sure to shop around as you'll have a good deal more options open to you once you turn 25.

C'mon lads, stop acting the maggot. Somebody's got to pay for all the TV advertising, the vast salaries, the enormous share payouts, etc.
