Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Additional disks into current RAID array

We have a Dell Poweredge 2800, with 4 73Gb disks in an array. The only RAID controller is a "PERC 4/di Motherboard embedded RAID activation".

We're now looking at adding extra disks to this server. If I add extra disks will they only be able to be in the current array or can I create a second array, and if its limited to the current array, I'm presuming I'd have to wipe whats there at the moment rather than simply resizing...

    Hardware question !

If you aren't using openmanage/array manager
Pop the tag in on http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/my_systems_info/en/details?c=ie&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2
verify you have the correct part in the list
click on ireland on the bottom left and then select the relevant management utils - if unsure ring dell to get advice on the software and how to use it as you have to be 110% sure of the concepts and names in case you choose the wrong option and wipe everything !!! (the windows GUI is less scary then the controller BIOS )

You can add in extra drives as HOT SPARES
Or you can extend the Array - so windows can see it as free space on a now larger partition
You can get the dell utils to expand the volume - but I prefer to use windows disk admin tools to add the space. by clicking on the empty space and extend partition

you can add the drive in as a standalone drive
or mirror a pair of them
or three or more as a separate RAID 5 arrray (if you had the room)
