Is there an independant garage in Galway who can reset an airbag light on a '03 316i? The passenger seat was slammed when someone was getting in and the light came on. Barry Motors (main dealers) want $$$. Anyone recommend anyone?

    thanks,

    John Roche
    Bridge Street
    Gort
    Co. Galway

I have never used him but was introduced to him by Kevin Barry formerly of Barry motors who sang his praises

Thanks kb - spoke with John and he reckons he has the software to do the job.

Why do main dealers give me the heebie-jeebies? I prefer dentists to main dealers...

There's another guy in Loughrea called John Callinan. Lost his number, though. Charges about €50 to reset an airbag light.

Seems that 50 euro is a standard cost to reset the airbag light - Barrys started taking about replacing wires and sensors 'in case' they were damaged and I don't feel like being raped today. I could just take the bulb out...

Try Johnnie Faherty, Galway Car Care 091-527211, opposite Fahertys pub in lower Salthill, he should have the equipment to sort you out

The passenger seat is the most common way of tripping the airbag system. Check that the cable under he seat is connected and then try a reset at one of the specialists above.

Barrys charge €80 for a diagnostic. To be fair, I felt that I got excellent service from them yesterday, and that they didn't bend me over too far pricewise! Told my mechanic what they did and what they charged, and he felt that I hadn't been ripped off.

I was in France recently and had to get a hesitation problem diagnised.
With my pidgeon french and the mechanics lack of English we still managed to get 3 problems diagnosed - all for something like €20
