    My bugets quite low. e700.

I haven't a clue where to start looking to get something with an NCT done.

Ive checked "for sale" a few times here on boards but only came across one and I didn't have the money then. Id be looking for some 1.4 or lower.

Any ideas on where to look. Im in the west of ireland.

http://buyandsell.net <---tbh, for that price range, and if you know a mechanic bring him/her along with you.

I agree, http://www.buyandsell.net is your best bet, mostly private sellers on here. For this budget make sure the car drives well, steers well, stops well (brakes), has no fluid leaks and doesn't over heat.

You are very unlikely to find anything on carzone.ie or cbg.ie for €700 as mostly dealers advertise on here and probably don't hold stock of that value. They usually have scrappage deals these days so most trade-ins of this value are sold on for parts to brakers.

Look in a few of the old rural garages - my gf picked up a Hyundai Accident, 1999, with the mileage still in 5 figures and not in too bad shape for about €1,400. Goes well.

Also, talk to anyone you might know in the garage trade - dealers tend to give very little money on trade ins for older cars, regardless of condition. They then sell them out to the trade and they filter back to the public. A friend of mine deals in them, and some of them have been excellent cars for the money (a couple of my friends have got '97/'98 Rover 214's for about €1,500 in very good condition from him, with assurance that he'll get them through the NCT if it's within 4-5 months of buying the car).

Has your friend got a website or where is he based?
