Ice Hotel? And you complaining bitterly about the cold on the Bram Stoker night! Still it sounds good, somewhere different. Where did that idea come from?

    I know man I know:p

I wanted to do something completely different, done the package thing(never ever again) done the long haul - Oz,malaysia, india so I decided on eco tourism and this doesn't take that concept too far if you know what I'm saying (I like SOME comfort)

That's an interesting hexadecimal in your sig there, Thaedydal.

Careful now... that could get you in trouble... it's like a modern day version of the tetragrammaton.

Yes I hear it can summon up all sorts of writs and those evils spaw from one of the lower planes, american coperate lawyers but I have yet to get a whiff of them.

    Evening all,

    How goes it - gossip,scandal,crack?

I have not much news really - other than I think I've thought my pet fish ( a tropical type, can't remember which one) anyway I think I've thought him how to do tricks

Pinky (because he's pink & also because there was a white fella so I named them after Pinky & the brain)

So I'm feeding him last night and I was dangling the carton of food over the opening of the tank (wasn't paying attention) so he actually did a dolphin jump out of the water to get my attention

Ok so this may be more appropiate to the pets forum but that's been my highlight of the day

    :D;)

If he is doing that you would want to make sure you have a lid on the tank so he can't leap out when you are not home, happened to someone i know she came home and the house smelled of cooked fish.
Her pet had lept out of the tank, landed on the radiator and then the heating kicked in on it's timer.

I'm actually going to be flying out this morning now; disaster struck! The Blackwall Tunnel, which links Southeast and East London was blocked, so I was up teh creek, and missed my flight...

    And @ Thaed: Nasty!

LOL - that is just classic, i love it (well not the fish dying part obviously)

Great idea though, must get tank lid.

What's that little picture on the end of your signature - is it Pauline Bewick, it's bloody gorgeous

What airport were you going from, Stanstead? I HATE that airport

Might be a blessing in disguise - you're there for the weekend now;)

Hi everyone, how are you all keeping.

Sorry haven't been posting all week, moved into a new apartment and still getting broadband sorted out so browsing time has been a bit limited. It's going well so far though, I've managed to go a whole week without burning the place down or locking myself out. I thought the place was haunted one of the first nights, but it turned out to just be the water pump :o

Maybe this place is just making me paranoid.

Sounds like people have some nice trips planned, you'll have a great time in amsterdam stormkeeper, it's a very cool city, with some really great museums and other touristy stuff. If your out by the rijksmuseum have a look out for a mongolian band (black horse I think they're called) playing under one of the arches, with the echoes and everything in there they sound really cool.

Oh, and do NOT go window shopping ;)

And LB going to the Ice Hotel, very exotic. I wouldn't have thought you'd agree with the cold either. I'm sure they serve lots of belly warming beverages though, altough the glasses are made of ice too you know :). They have these really cool looking giant woolly sleeping bags which should be warm, and I think some of the rooms even have a fireplace, but I wouldn't trust a fireplace in an ice hotel to be honest, you could wake up in the room below  Oh, there's a thought, I wonder if the beds are made of ice too ? They'd probably be really hard and cold, but they would melt into a perfectly molded shape for you.

Hmmm, anyone know where I could buy a really small water bed and a really large freezer ?

    LB

Well, I'd have had an extra day to do stuff if I got there on Thursday, as the wedding was Friday, which was cool. Of course, I didn't sleep for the 30 hours between 7pm Thusday, then about 1am or so Saturday morning XD

Are they going to go up before or after your reports from the last few trips? (including Edinburgh:))

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,952 ✭✭✭✭Stoner

I love the Starburst challenge 6th, something I use to do when i was a child, but we never had enough to go around to allow us to try to break records, I think i got about 15 before though, but I did it for the taste sensation, not for the fame.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,247 ✭✭✭✭6th

Its not about fame its about pushing the limits of the human body - and this is alot of body to push!!

Btw, congrats on the 1,000th post ;)

who ever heard of a fireplace in an ice hotel:rolleyes: .

Ehh this bunch of photos clearly shows a fireplace. But if you read some of the reviews on expedia they say that it doesn't actually emit much heat. PS I think I'll give going to the loo a miss thanks! That's Photo 4. Looks a mite cold for me!
And I really don't think there will be beds made of ice - have you not seen Casino Royale:eek: Ladybird

They are, but you get -40c sleeping bags, and deer skins! Also lit by fibre optics (no heat).
