i used to love this country. as i've become older i've realized a lot of things. namely that this isn't a democracy. that's part of the reason i want to move. it just seems to me that a lot of things have changed here, and not for the better

i think ireland is more coy than the US when it comes to this stuff. my little cousin knew what a dirty sanchez was for crying out loud and he's only 11

Maybe that's the case in Clare or Galway but I don't think there's many in Dublin who could be described as "coy" when it comes to discussing things of a sexual nature!

    Perhaps,overall,you're right though.

when we were over there the bartender at the local pub took us to a house party in Gort. One of the girls with us kissed a guy at the party. the guy's sister came out of nowhere and said "i don't know about in america, but over here we don't just go around kissing people we just met"

Great thread guys, really helping me avoid this Business Continuity Plan.

Why are American kids so immature?
I sware everytime I play an online game I get some punk kid telling me I'm a "****" a "pussy" (LAW pussy in battlefield) a "******" (<- negro) or screaming **** over the mic. Everyone just seems so hostile. Its the ethnic slurs that piss me off the most.

I just want to reach over the internet and strangle them to death.

i can't play games online because of those same kids. I had a 7 year old talking sh!t on me when i was playing madden online, as well as cheating. It frustrated me so much i never played online again.

as for the insults...it's par for the course. there's good kids, but there's an equal amount of kids that are just bastards

i think i did answer it. i have no idea why the gov't feels the need to do that. in iraq it was two-fold. it was W's chance to avenge his father in the guise of defeating terrorists and also try to get the oil into a more stable leadership environment. That backfired. When the war started gas was about $1.25 a gallon. Now it's $3.00 a gallon. I know other factors supposedly contributed to that, but the war started the whole spike

Pvt Joker, you do realise that if our prime minister could get Irish fuel prices down to the level that Americans think is worth complaining about, most people in this country would back a constitutional change naming him our autocratic dictator for the rest of his natural life.

TomCo- the Irish love homophobic and racist insults. Go fcuk yourslfelf ****. :)

i hear that all of the time. keep one thing in mind though, everything here is spread out. I had a job for a while that was 90 miles from my house. when we were there we had a diesel ford focus that got 1000km on one tank.

That's true. We drove from NYC to Canada last year... think it was about 480miles. It seems that Americans are as quick to drive 1000 miles as we are to get a cheap flight for the same distance. So boring... such great roads and everyone doing a steady 65... it's like offramp, bridge, police cruiser.. every 10 miles until you fall asleep at the wheel.

At least over here every road trip is livened up by near - death overtaking manoeuvres, road rage, northern reg cars with de facto immunity from the law and trying to read our crappy road signs before you realise you missed the exit completely

hahaha. i drive fast over here. in ireland i was petrified. 90 degree turns with death lurking behind and around every corner. on the way back from the cliffs this old lady crested a hill in OUR LANE coming head on. She was doing about 80mph. I almost crapped myself.

as for the scenery here...there is none. We're driving 1800 miles in a few weeks when we move from philly to texas. 2 cars, 2 dogs and me and my wife. It's going to take us 3 days though, so it's not THAT bad. But yeah, i would rahter drive than fly for some reason

Grand I saw it there, you do know that there's high house prices and traffic congestion in Ireland especially in and around Dublin.

Its the same situation as in parts of America.

By the way whats your favourite beer? Mine is Fosters:D

yeah, we would live in the west. traffic congestion in ireland is due mostly to old infrastructure. we have infrastructure, turnpikes over here are four lanes wide and come to a complete stop during rush hour.

as for favorite beers...i have many. right now probably young's double chocolate stout, samuel smith oatmeal stout and john courage...oh, and real guinness.

i REALLY want to try those new guinness brew series beers...39 and toucan brew. Too bad we don't get any of that over here

most americans don't even think about canada.
they on the other hand are on a permanent ego trip.

are you saying Canadians are on an ego trip? If so, how's that? We can't even agree on what "Canadian" is, we have a weird national identity, if we have one at all.

people in the US are always fed the idea that canada thinks it's a few rungs higher because they're pacifists to an extent. I personally don't really look at them as allies. I don't think they would have our back anymore than mexico would if North Korea somehow willed a missle over the ocean and started WW3
