Hey all, I have my 1mb eircom all hooked up and I just can't get connected. I have the constant lights on the modem and everything is plugged in correctly, I really do not want to have to endure ANOTHER call to eircom so if anyone knows what to do i'd appreciate it. The 2 computers at the lower right of the screen say "limited or no connection".

or off and on in? That order works better.
Alternatively, check DHCP is enabled or switch to using static IP addresses. I'm sure the manual covers this or something...

    Start -> run -> command ->
    ipconfig /all

Dump the output of a machine here.

Limited or no connection normally means your not getting an ip address. Open a command prompt and type ipconfig to get the ip addresses for all your connections. Eircoms one should have a dns of 159.134.237.6. Try typing ipconfig/renew to refresh your ip.

Are you using a wireless connection to the router? You may need to enter the wep key.

If you are not using a router.
Disabled the Connection by right clicking on the 2 computers.
    Shut down the PC.
    Unplug the modems power.
    Disconnect it from your PC.
Wait about a minute start up the modem and wait till all the correct lights are on.
Connect the modem back up to you PC.
    Boot the PC.
Then Re-enable the Connection (the 2 computers at the end of the screen) again.

That gives all devices enough time to be ready before information needs to pass between them

Assign the IP address manually. Have a read of this for instructions:
    http://www.hotcomm.com/FAQ/FAQ_staticIPXP.asp
The details you'll need to enter are different from the example.
    IP address - 192.168.1.10
    Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway - 192.168.1.254
    Primary DNS - 213.94.190.194
    Secondary DNS - 213.94.190.236
    Click OK and reboot.

make sure this is running or you won't get an ip from the router

    start > run > type 'services.msc'
if dhcp client is running stop it & restart it

did you try a network stack refresh?
you could also try 'tricking' XP (I assume it's xp??) into thinking you've re-installed tcp/ip

    control panel > network connections
right click the LAN conn > properties
you should see 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' in the list on the props screen
untick the box, restart the pc, go back in & tick the box, restart again
    now check your ip

    still having probs?
if there is a USB port on the router/modem try connecting with that
