Vectra, when you ordered from tower hobbies, did they ask you to fax a picture of the credit card?

Went out tonight with the Maxx and the revo

The Maxx ran fine until it hit Tank 3..
The thing burst into life and was near impossible to keep the front wheels on the ground..
By the time I thought about recording a bit it was turning a little dark and the engine was starting to get a little hot as well after about 5 tanks continous, But captured a little on the mobile for you lot..;)

    T-Maxx popping a few wheelies :D

As for the 3.3 in the Revo..
man I cant wait to get this run in..
Put some 16% MT in it as well as mixing a little 3in1 oil through it to give it an extra bit of Lubrication.
First 2 tanks I only barely squeezed the throttle and kept the revs waay down. The Revo was only basically rolling around. Then tank 3 and four I worked up to about 1/3 throttle on and off, Not keeping it there as such.
During these four tanks i ran it for around 2 mins then brought it in and stopped it to allow it to cool down a bit.. ( Not that it was running hot or anything)
In fact both engines ran exceptionally cool tonight.. ( I did pot a few drops of 3in1 through both fuels)

Anyway. Tank 5 on the 3.3.. i gave it a quick squirt of throttle.. ( and i do mean quick) Less than 1/2 second and off again,, just to see what the performance was like..
Unreal is he only way I can describe it..
Deffo getting another few tanks through over the weekend..;)
And by the way it ran tonight I might just keep it on 16% MT..
Half the price of the tornado stuff..:o

Did you have to tune it much or are you still running it at factory settings?

I richened the HSN on my one before i even ran it tonight..about 1/4 turn richer.;)

Took my one out tonight for another run and what a nightmare it was.. :(
Reminded me of my sons old T-Maxx engine..!!!

    First off.
I ran five tanks through it last night.. No bother..
    Did the after run...
    Took it out tonight.
Put some 16% in the tank and do you think it would go??
Not if I kissed its Ar$e..
It fired about 5 times then died.. just kept on flooding itself..Strange thing was the glow plug was lighting up fine..
changed the glow plug and still would not start..
Got mad with it and threw out the MT16%...filled her up with Blue Thunder 20%..
Presto Fired up instantly but was not running great..Sort of Misfiring sound.. eventually it cleared itself out and ran nicely at which point I topped it up with 16% again and finished that tank.
Brought it in and shut it down to allow it cool down as it was pretty hot..
Filled her up with 16% again... NO go..
It would fire up and only run with a tiny bit of throttle and keep the ezstart button pressed...
Now I am getting Pi$$ed with it at this point..
Out with the glow plug and put the original one back in and Bingo.. off she went again..
even got it to change into second this time but not on every run as I want to get a few more tanks through it before I "gun it" :D

Right.. Here is the funny part.
I just had it running round in a bit of an oval in front of me keeping it on low throttle and it stopped... Hmm..!! Out of fuel I thought.. But no.. I was wrong there was some in there ..( about 1/4 tank)
started it a few minutes later and same problem.. would stop running when I pulled off the ezstart..

Now I remembered that it did exactly the same thing last night but I discovered that the receiver battery pack was gone dead..
So.. I put it to bed for the night..after doing the after run... OH..! One thing.. Top of the piston is not shiney silver anymore.. Now it is a blackish color.. I assume this is normal from running rich??
Maybe tomorow it will be ok again..

    Why??

    Traxxas say use 20%

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,070 ✭✭✭muckwarrior

Yeah, they advise on running it in with the same fuel you intend on using in it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,540 ✭✭✭✭vectra

anyhow, changing to different fuels is only codswallop..!!
Old wives tales...!! all that means is a retune for each different blend.. it amazes me as to all the posts I read on different forums from people who genuinely believe that their engines will blow up if the change fuel type..
    :D
