Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whatever you are imagining cannot prepare you for the Love Parade so be prepared for anything!

I went in 1999 when I lived in Germany

During the day, you get a lot of familys out enjoying the parade with their kids and all that? All the TV stations and local companies will have floats and they will be throwing out sweet etc. There will be a lot of crazy Germans dressed up everywhere in cling film, nothing, arse-less pants (remember it was primarely a gay pride festival) - there will be so many ****ed up people everywhere u wont know where to look!

All along the road you can just head off into the park through the bushes, you'll find DJ's have set up in there and people are just chilling there, dancing having a few beers. There will be guys going around selling cans of beer from bags. If you want to buy any drugs this seems to be the best place to do it!

Later on it becomes more about the music, and you'll be on the street (feeling like you're in a night club!) - with all your favourite DJ's just driving by. At some stage then they all stop in a certain place and you can choose who you want to see. i was lucky, right in front of me stopped Carl Cox and PvD - the next day I also got to see Carl Cox and Sven Vath play at Tresor.

Im not sure about street parties after, we headed stright to Tresor in Potsdamer Platz. I believe thats closed down now. Pity... it was crazy... you paid 40DM (approx. 40€) in and you could stay for days... it was open 24 hours from the Wed before the parade till the Wed after. It was an old bank and they played real hardcore **** in the vault underground with all the original thick vault steel gates n ****. I swear I lost a stone and a half just being in there for an hour....!

Back then, it seemed like there was a complete amnesty on drugs for the whole weekend. Dont know what its like now, but I rememebr sitting at a park bench counting out pills and some security dude was standing right next to us and didnt give a ****.

Keep an eye out for the Sex Parade and **** Parade - its more for locals and has some great underground DJs - they're the anti Love Parade, basically anti whistles and cyber-kid ravers which theres a lot of at the Love Parade. If its just the Love Parade you're after just follow the crowds to the Brandenburg Gate! Try not to lose any of your friends, make a meeting poing in case u do otherwise you'll be ****ed!

Head into the city the days leading up to it... cant remember the exact spots but there will be DJ's randomly set up in the city, like in pedestrian areas with people all around off their faces, just chilling etc.... #

During the parade, make your way up to 'The Angel' - thats where it all kicks off. Just follow the crowds from the Brandenburg Gate to it... keep going straight. They have loads of TV screens up there and thats where it all ends.

Have a great time, I'm so jealous...... you'll love it, how could you not!

Berlin will hit YOU with a bang this weekend! Enjoy!

By the way some German to get you by....

'hast du pillen' - have u got pills
'Wie Viel?' - How much? (Viel is pronounced Veel)
'Zu Viel' - too much (for when they try to rip u off on the price of pills!)
'Wie komme Ich am besten....?' - What is the best way to get to ....?

I was there in 2000 and 2002. There was about 1m people in 2000 and it absolute mental. I got the train up from Frankfurt on the Friday night and the crowd on the train just got crazier and crazier at each stop as more and more got on. We changed trains in Hannover and I think thats where a load of Dutch had got on... Train doors opened in Berlin Zoo train station and the sound was mental. We got off at the next stop and some guy had robbed a Love Parade sign with an arrow on it and there was this gang following him. So so funny. Next day at the Parade was literally unimaginable. You asked what to expect but I reckon you'll be in the state I was saying/thinking "What the f*ck?" all the time.

Parade kicks off at 2.00pm with some dude blowing a whistle and the music starts belting out. From then on....memory lapses, women with only tiny G strings on, so many messy messy people, porno movies being shot....list is endless. Around 6 at the "angel" about 15 DJs play 20 minute sets with PvD and Westbam/Dr. Motte playing the last two then the after parties...

I could go on forever..Can't really describe it?

PS 40DM (approx. 40€) . 40DM is actually €20. Ridiculously cheap. I paid €6 to see Paul Van Dyk in the legendary Dorian Grey in Frankfurt Airport

whoops - i lived there well before the euro - I'd heard it was 1 to 1 but I must have got it wrong! so it was only 20 euro into tresor? - not bad for 7 ays in a nightclub!
