Disabling an alarm in an old Mercedes

A family member recently bought a 10 year old Mercedes C180. There is an alarm that automatically gets activated when the car is locked. The problem is that the alarm is going off during the day and night.

The car is kept in a quiet rural area and there is no need for an alarm. It was brought to a local mechanic and he was reluctant to tamper with it in case it invoked the immobiliser. He said that he would need a computer to do it.

Do any of you know where we could get it disconnected without paying an arm and a leg?

    I live in Dublin.

    Thanks in advance.

What part of dublin are you in?

Is it a standard or aftermarket alarm do you know?

If you trigger the alarm, put the key in and try start the car will it start?

I'm in Dublin 7. I'm not sure about the car starting when the alarm is going off. I'll have to check that one out.
