if Metallica and Megadeth were doing a gig on the same night but in different locations. For arguments sake The Ambassador and The Point. Which one would you go to over the other and say why. do not post something like "because ______ are sh1te" or "because _____ is a b0llox". And if you would go to neither, don't post!

I would probably go to Megadeth because Megadeth are more consistant then Metallica. Their latest album, The System Has Failed, is brilliant, where as I think Metallica were on a steady drop downhill after The Black Album. I hyave seen both bands live and thinking about it I preferred Megadeth, they just have such a good stage presence

If it were a gig, and I could only see one, I'd go to Megadeth, cause I've only seen them once, and have seen Metallica a few times. If they both had a CD out, and I could only buy one, it'd probably be Metallica.

It depends on the set. I've always perfered Megadeth over Metallica so I'd probably choose them. But if I knew Metallica were going to play the entire MoP album (or something similar), I'd go watch them in a second.

I've seen this thread, with identical text, at least once or twice before on this forum, correct me if I'm wrong. It's a ****-stirring thread either way, it can go no other way than the "because X is bollocks" route.

Megadeth definately. Far better band and live show. Besides, if you go to see Metallica all you're getting is a Megadeth tribute band. :p

I would have always said Megadeth... until the latest Metallica gig in the RDS. Now I'd have to say Metallica, if only just because they might play as good a gig again.

Have seen Metallica live, but not Megadeth, so it would be the 'deth, methinks.

That and the fact I'm never giving Metallica another cent of my money, of course.

Yeah, I'd go with Megadeth because I've never seen em.

Some individuals would tell you that that's a clear indication of Megadeth's superiority. Not me, though.

It's a toughie. I've never seen Megadeth live. But then again Megadeth had a couple of albums that did nothing for me. Plus you'd be going just to see Mustaine and not Menza, Effellson, or Friedman etc, so it's not all of the band we know and love. I'd probably still go to see Megadeth, though. Seeing as there's always talk that Mustaine might throw in the towel with Megadeth soon.

    no question.... Megadeth

seen both bands live... both great, but if i had to pick one...Megadeth by a long shot.

Definitely Megadeth - having seen both bands live a few times & owning most of their cds (not the last 1 or 2 Metallica) I definitely say Megadeth.
I gave up on Metallica a few years ago - just couldn't be arsed with them anymore!
I know people said the last gig was excellent, but just not my scene anymore, they're totally overplayed to bits. Everytime I hear one of their songs in the pub, I get annoyed. And Jason was the only person I really liked in the last few years, so after he left there was no reason to like them anymore!

Have seen both live quite a number of times and Megadeth win - no contest!

Seen metallica twice so far. Never megadeth though. And although im not really a fan of Dave Wanksteins' squeeky attempt of a scarey death metal voice, there is however a handful of the earlier stuff (before they became gay) that i like from my days as i was 11-13 years old....No more Mr. Nice guy is my favourite. Fantastic tune. And after, that Rust in Peace and Countdown....albums
After that , its all cock and no play for Wankstein. But yeah Megadeth in the point would be a killer gig (once he didnt go on and on about himself, as he does)

Metallica ..... for all the crap metallica get, the dave mustaine experience (DME) are just as bad, DME's output since youthanasia has been awful. Crush 'Em ... the worst song I've heard by a decent band.

And having seen both Metallica the Dave Mustaine Experience are more than a few occasions, I'd have to say I'd go to Metallica. They put on a much better show.

And Metallica's output since the Black Album has been what exactly?

I love both bands but ive always been drawn to megadeth more, plus ve seen metallica twice and withmegadeth being so volitile they could break up any miniute so id go with them, although i dont believe its megadeth without elfson.

Metallica by a long way. Remember they play mostly stuff from their first five albums which is classic and way better then Megadeth. I think a lot people might prefer Megadeth because people got sick of Metallica because they are so popular and overplayed and the like, but I just don't think that's a good reason to like one band over the other. Just comparing music and stage show, it has to be Metallica.

Garage inc was their last decent album. Honestly I think megadeth are the more intelligent band.

Or the less full of crap band rather... :D

Hasn't been great, but give me Load over Cryptic Writing any day. And any song on St Anger is better than Crush Em, quite possibly one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

They've both produced some crap records, but for some reason, people are quick to forgive Mustaine.
