Reformat New Laptop - Void Warranty?

Got a new Acer laptop yesterday. The only problem is; it comes installed with all the usual "lash it on to make it seem better" software and the hard drive is partioned.

If I reformat the HD and reinstall Windows etc will it void the warranty? Or is it a case of it's yours do with it as you like?

    Thanks.

I presume you have your own copy of Windows to install.

Can't see it being a problem, but I imagine people would be the ones to ask.

They can get fussy as they say the installed OS is tweaked to get the maximum performance out of the hardware or some other stuff. Generally they prefer their windows the way they gave it to you to help avoid problems and when it comes to fixing problems a standard to return to.

Did it come with CD's? Some manufacturers these days include a hidden partition to restore the OS. They will include the ability to create a CD version of these thus freeing up the 1 GB of space they were occupying. Make sure you create these before deleting anything.

It came with all the usual CD's.
The actual Windows CD is part of the 3 or 4 "Rescue" CD's.

Is there a safe way to remove the partition at least?
It's split the HD in half.

You should use Partition Magic to resize the partitions,I had a customer with similar request, just make sure nothing is saved on the 2nd partition.Delete the 2nd partition in Partition magic, then reallocate the free space to the first primary partition.
