Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have my computer desktop connected to Net1 wireless Broadband through a Belkin router.Thats all working fine and i got it set-up from help i received in this section of boards a couple months ago. :)

Anyway, i now want to set my laptop up to work wirelessly and would appreciate some more help. Basically i dont know where to start. My ip is fixed by the way. My laptop is running windows XP and has a wireless thingy built in, it would have been a Centrino lappy but i upgraded some configuration and it didnt have a Centrino badge. I think a centrino needs 3 things to be a centrino, wireless, the M cpu and something else i forget but i upgraded the wireless i think.

Set up the lan on your laptop to receive an ip from dhcp (dont fix it) click refresh networks list click connect..does your laptop see the network...make sure wireless turned on in the router ...etc etc.. you should be able to get there by just gettin to it...

hiya, i have the laptop working with the router as in Ican use both my desktop and lappy to connect to Broadband seperately. I just plug out the cable from the main pc and put it into my lappy which then works.

Do i have to go into the "wireless conection" in network connections first or do i go to the routers homepage and find "wireless" section there to enter some settings?

Solve one problem at a time. You need to have the laptop talking to the router wirelessly before you'll be able to talk to the internet, so forget about the internet side of things until you've got the laptop talking to the belkin router.

You should be able to make an wireless initial connection without making any changes, because wireless is on by defaut, with no encryption enabled, and the SSID should be visible. If the laptop doesn't see a network called "Belkin something", then there may be a problem with the laptops wireless settings - have you ever use the laptop on another wireless network?

If/when you get the laptop talking to the router wirelesly, then you should change the default settings. Change the SSID, and enable WPA encryption. Set up WPA-PSK on the laptop as well, with the same password. You should now be able to connect securely from the laptop to the router. At that point, your connection to the internet from the laptop should be working too.

I got this working through help of a mate. Anyway, now that all the wireless is up and running do i need any security for the wireless side of things. Im in the countryside and the houses near me arent into computers really, so my wireless network shouldnt be interferred with. So is it alright?
