PsyOps How far is too far?

I'm currently reading a book which decribes the birth of PsyOp methodology and I was shocked to read the details of some of the early forays into psychological warfare techniques. Alot of it bordered on what most people would call unethical but most of it was very effective, frighteningly so.

So this got me to thinking, there's obviously a need for this especially with the current state of world politics but from a military point of view how far should a PsyOp team go to break the enemy?
