    Given the pictures i'd assume the difference is the same a scattered and broken..

    (Octas = Eights)

    FEW = few = 1 to 2 OCTAS (Sunny - this site probably uses 0- 2 octas for this classification))
    SCT = scattered = 3 to 4 OCTAS = About half the sky clear , puffy little clouds drifting about
    BKN = broken = 5 to 7 OCTAS = Intermittant clouds = less puffy clouds more flat looking ones, sun coming out now and again
    OVC = overcast = 8 OCTAS
