Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Liverpool played Wrexham on Saturday, which was their first match in their pre-season campaign.

    The line-up was:
    Jerzy Dudek
    Miki Roque
    Jack Hobbs
    Gabriel Paletta
    Steve Finnan
    John Arne Riise
    Danny Guthrie
    Boudewijn Zenden
    Paul Anderson
    Craig Bellamy
    Besian Idrizaj

    SUBS :
    Godwin Antwi
    Salif Diao
    Robbie Fowler
    Adam Hammill
    Sami Hyypia
    David Martin
    Danny O'Donnell
    Lee Peltier
    Florent Sinama Pongolle
    James Smith
    Robbie Threlfall

    GOALS: Anderson (5), Bellamy (52)

SUBSTITUTIONS: Smith, Antwi, Hyypia, Diao, Peltier, Fowler, Pongolle, O'Donnell, Hammill, Threlfall, Dudek

    Attendance : 11,335 (capacity)

I dont envy the players playing in this weather. Good to see Bellamy getting off to a good start and scoring a goal. I didnt hear match reports but promising. Bellamy is a player with a lot of capability and if he applies himself well and continues to develop, he has a lot of potential with positive benefits for Liverpool. I thought Diao was going to be sold.

    The remaining warm-up games are:

    22 Jul, 2006 Crewe Alexandra Friendly A 15:00 Y Y Y -
    29 Jul, 2006 FC Kaiserslautern Friendly A 16:30 TBC TBC TBC -
01 Aug, 2006 Grasshopper Club Zurich Friendly A 16:00 TBC TBC TBC -
04 Aug, 2006 FSV Mainz 05 Friendly A TBD TBC TBC TBC -
13 Aug, 2006 Chelsea FA Community Shield A 15:00 TBC TBC TBC -
    16 Aug, 2006 Lincoln City Friendly A 19:45 TBC TBC TBC -

I cant understand the need to play Lincoln though !

    Then the action starts with:

    19 Aug, 2006 Sheffield United Barclays Premiership A 12:45 Y N Y -
    26 Aug, 2006 West Ham United Barclays Premiership H 12:45 Y N Y -
    09 Sep, 2006 Everton Barclays Premiership A 12:45 Y N Y -
    17 Sep, 2006 Chelsea Barclays Premiership A 13:30 Y N Y -
    20 Sep, 2006 Newcastle United Barclays Premiership H 20:00 Y N Y -

We play Lincoln as it was part of the Jack Hobbs deal.

Come on red, get with the program.

Was thee, was a fun game althouhg atmosphere was a bit suppressed as everybody was too
    hot to do much.

I am not with the programme at all, or clued in or take any expression you like to describe my 'with-it-ness' for all things Liverpool, alas! ;-)

Without resorting to a click of my keyboard, who is Jack Hobbs, and whats the story?

Yeah, I can imagine that it was too hot for anyone to play 'all out' football. These games are a 'necessary evil' and help blow away some cob webs.

Nothing. I missed it, woops! I have since read the thread and my post should have gone there (with edits).

I hope to 'wake up' before the season starts ;-)

Hobbs is a promising youngster who we signed last summer. Part of the deal was the promise of a game against liverpool - although it seems to be a Liverpool XI rather than the first team

He looked fairly decent against Wrexham indeed.
