Thats not how it works (in our school anyway).
You just pick them up anytime during the day.
    No speeches.
    No waiting.

I've only recently started to get nervous about the results... I can't believe they are in four days...
And reading about the amount of people that seem to have done really well in History is starting to worry me because I KNOW I ****ed that up so if the Marking Scheme is harsh then I am rightly buggered. Same goes for French...
But if everything else went as well as I think/ hoped it did then.. *fingers crossed*
Regardless I am getting SO drunk that night...

the fact that everythings corrected and that ur grades are sitting on a sheet of paper in a vault somewhere is what gets me.

Anyways, anyone headin to Barcode dat night?

I was reading the last day in the paper (the Star or Sun, can't remember) about how the Samaritans were encouraging students to ring to release their fears and stress to them.

But then, I read a terrifying statistic beneath it that said 60,000 students are competing for 38,000 CAO course places  Surely there's more places than that?!

    *PANICS*

    Don't believe everything you read!
First of all only 54,000 sat the leaving not 60000! Second, think of your class (unless in a grind school) how many have applied for apprenticeships, or just are finished with school?
Then they are not all applying for the same course. Why do you think some courses are AQA and others 600.

    C'mon it's not that bad!

I can feel my stomach hanging out my ass @ this stage! Not as nervous though but really hoping I didn't fail Economics and that the rest of my results are better than my pres, I want over 400.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

Economics is a bitch, I had to get mine rechecked. Don't be afraid to do that, it got me an extra 40 points.

I wasn't especially nervous the day I got my results, I didn't do well at all, felt like a complete turd and then got off my hole and thought about what I could do with the points I did get(mind you I didn't get the rechecked economics for nearly two months and had the examiner done their job right the forst time I wouldn't have had any trouble. The point is even doing as badly as I did there are still things you can do even if you fail maths, which I did. If you have the money go private if those colleges have anything you want to do, resit if you think you can go through it again( I would have but I wasted enough time), work until you're 23 and apply as a mature student. That last one is actually the best option, it gives you time to think about what you want to do and you could save some money so you don't have to worry about that while you study.

Does everyone have a fair idea of when exactly the results are being released in your school's? Mine doesn't release the results until 11am, so I'll probably head down a little before that.

    Less than a day now...

    (shudder)

I dont think i can sit down! :(

The results arrive in a big metal box in the school early in the morn. Then the principal/counsellor person/whatever has a look through them and puts them in the computer, then they go in envelopes with your name. For my JC, you could actually see the VP and the secretary putting them in the computer first thing in the morning before we got them, cos her office had a glass door.

Does anyone know what happens if u dont get the points for your course, then get a recheck that brings u up to the points for that course. Can u now do it, or is it tough **** cant do it

if there are places left unfilled on the course, then you may get offered one for this year. Failing that, you will be offered the course starting in sept 07.

That's a bit unfair if some schools open earlier than others..
Good luck to everyone - you'll need it (only joking, the results can't be changed now)

I'm so indifferent to the whole thing! I've resigned myselg to doing badly cos I barely worked all year/ I'll prolly get a flash of nerves when I'm holding my envelope though.
