Flies in Attic

During the winter I get hundreds of flies in the attic. I think they are called cluster flies and are no real harm.

The get in through the vent in the soffit and was wondering if any of ye know if there is a mesh that can be fitted over the vent to stop the flies getting in but still allow the air to circulate through the attic.

If there is nothing to stop them what do you use to try and reduce their numbers?

We have a screen we bought in aldi that works great, but before that we bought a plain white (with no design so the holes are small and uniform), net curtain. Duck Tape it around the frame of the window, not wonderful looking but does the job. Worked well as long as you spend the time putting it up properly, just remember, you are gonna need a place where you can open to put your hand through to close the window so leave a space untaped (maybe close that bit off with a pin).
