Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mixing brand of wireless cards and modem

I've signed up for broadband with Eircom and they will supply a free Netopia 3300W wifi modem/router. I need to buy a wireless card for my laptop. The Netopia card is €49 with Eircom but I see a Belkin F5D7010UK card in PcWorld for 34.99.
Is it ok to mix the 2 or is it best to keep the card and modem/router the same brand ?
Has anyone else used this Belkin card with Netopia modem ?

Should be fine. I'd only be concerned about trying to keep the same manufacturer if I'm using wireless in a large house/building.

Avoid Belkin like the plague they have a bad rep and are cheap for a reason, you'd be better off with a Linksys WPC54G, will cost you in the region of €70 but well worth it.

Other Brands to look for: D-Link, Netgear both make decent WiFi gear.

Mixing brands is no problem at all, just make sure that all cards support 802.11G as that is now the standard (54Mbs, although throughput is only ~22Mbs for technical reasons (WiFi is half duplex))
