Looking for a host

Hello All. As you may guess from the subject, I’m in need of a host however I know bugger all about who’s out there, who’s any good and what its going to cost. In short I couldn’t tell my arse from my elbow as far as hosting is concerned.

I’ve tried looking around a bit but so far I haven’t been able to find what I’m looking for which is:
    Windows server 2003 & IIS6
    Supports .Net 1 & 2
    Supports ColdFusion 7
    Multiple MS SQL 2000 databases
    POP3 email addresses
    Unlimited sub-domains (eg: http://proj1.mydomain.com; http://proj2.mydomain.com etc).
Allows multiple independent sites (eg: http://www.mydomain.com; http://www.anotherdomain.net etc – desirable but low in the list of priorities)

I already have the domain names so that’s not an issue; I just need somewhere to point them. From what I can gather so far it seems like the thing that would suit me most would be a dedicated server but here’s the kicker: I’m most likely going to be the only person who’ll ever access it so a dedicated server would be a complete waste of money that I can’t afford to waste. This is in reality just going to be a testing server so I can make sure the sites I create actually work and aren’t relying on any local resources. I may possibly put up a (private – family & friends) photo gallery but I cant see that getting much traffic. Also, did I mention that I’m on an extremely tight budget?

So I suppose the main question I have for you lot is: Do you know where I can get all this for the lowest price possible? Could I separate the email from the web side of things? So for example company 1 hosts my sites (www.mydomain.com) and company 2 handles all my emails (johnk@mydomain.com)? I’m guessing that if that can be done then I wouldn’t be able to get webmail with company 2 right?

There, not asking for much am I? :) If you need any clarifications on anything just ask because as I said I know bugger all about hosting so have no idea if any required info is missing.

    Thanks.

I'm with Webworld, does all of the above but you'll need to call them and find out what pack best suites you.

I realise there have been issues in the past but I PM'd the mods yesterday and they were OK with it (hopefully they still are!)

I was in a predicament recently with a large site which uses a great deal of resources and in the end went with Blacknight who have been very professional with me to date. Their staff have also helped sort a few niggles when I have been unable (out of internet range).
However, from what I gather on here other hosts (H365, etc.) are just as good - I just don't have the direct experience.

Have to say that blacknight support is very good thus far. I also recommend MyHost.ie - but then again, I always do ;)

Having looked at everything I've decided to go with Blacknight as I've had countless people both here and elsewhere singing their praises. Thanks everyone for your help and thanks to the mods for letting me post this here despite the possibility of serious pimpage :D
