All monitors in Europe over 20' attract 14% duty. Still a crazy price delta!!!

wouldn't the american price have tax added onto the display price? but that would only account for 5%

Another good point. The American price will not include sales tax. Therefore in order to do a correct comparison you have to take 21% (vat) off the amreican price and then deduct 14% for duty. Then you have like for like.

    Don't you mean irish price?

or you can just look at the buisness site rather than home, the buisness site shows prices ex vat

    Just checked it's 872.10 ex vat a http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ie&l=en&s=bsd&cs=iebsdt1&sku=59234

Your correct, sorry!!! Irish price after VAT and tax taken off would be Euro 751.72. Still much more expensive.

also annoying is that Dell sell some products on their UK site that are unavailable on their Irish site even though I belive they all ship from their Irish facility.. what's that about?

Nearly as annoying as Amazon.co.uk stopping shipping some goods to Ireland, let's erect more barriers to a single market shall we!
