    Hi all,

Just got eircom bb installed in my new house, really missing smart bb now!

Anyway, we got the modem on thursday and could be used straight away. Was using azureus/bit torrent fine until today, got connected for a few minutes and it stopped - no up/downloads at all. btw I'm using the standard 6881-6889 ports with no problems before.

Do I need to change any settings before I can get the green smileys again? Or does eircom stop people using bit torrent???

    Cheers

edit: forgot to add, using the netopia router

Gonna start with that oh-so-typical BitTorrent question:

Did you forward ports on the router yet?

i think i did. under nat added custom service called azureus, port forwarding/range of ports, port range 6881-6889, base port 6881 and enabled it. made another one for udp as well.

    is that all??

A lot of isps blacklist the default port so try using a different one.

do you have any suggestions of ports?

some people use other ports for the simple reason that most use a standard and isp's end up "choking" those ports. i dunno if eircom are doing that but my rate isnt what it used to be..

EDIT: ah bet me to it..

Any random port between 49152 and 65535 should do.

Are you using a wireless router? Did you get the problem fixed?

when you have the ports forwarded, make sure you have the router's firewall
set to low as medium setting will not allow pinholes etc.

After I set this to low, I got back the green smileys, but i still get dht firewalled (on the bottom of azureus). how do i change that?

oh, btw i tried putting in other ports eg. 50000 etc, but azureus couldn't map those ports, wonder why?

edit: i have 2 out of 3 smileys (the other 1 is my share ratio <0.9.... ):D

Make sure you open both TCP and UDP, they should also be the same ports.
Any port (only one needed) between 49152 - 65535.

did all that, all the same, azureus can't map those ports, dunno why. had to use the standard port and it worked
