Build your own tennis or basketball court

I was wondering if anyone has considered having a hard landscaped are at their house for a tennis court or basketball or such.
I am considering this at the moment as I want to cut down on the amount of mowing that hs to be doen (site circa 1 acre), it would also be a great place for children to play - even on wet days.
Our house has no courts or play area close to it, so we need to DIY our own.

We have a problem with our site as it is triangle shaped and as such doesn't easily lend itself to the 120 feet by 60 feet recommendations for tennis court size (may have to put it diagonally across the back of site).

I presume that the usual surface for home courts would be tarmac? I could get this done when getting driveway done.

Fencing is another issue - chainlink prob. best option- but costly.

Another option I am considering is having an all purpose tarmac 'court' area not of any regulation size but possible build a wall along one end to be used for squash , handball , tennis practise etc. etc.

Would be interested in any thought and opinions / experience of this type of thing.

I thought I'd dig up this old thread as I'd love to build a tennis court for my parents. Budget would be the main factor here. Does anybody have any experience in building a court? I imagine drainage is the first step? Are there any construction companies who specialise? cheers
