(very) short article from the Bray People

    http://tinyurl.com/nho2j

a while back there was a guy from the Charlesland Wood residents association posting here and he said the installation of a postbox was imminent, and they were in discussions with Dublin Bus

so, any residents association people reading this - any update on these issues?

    Heres the article:

Public transport to the Charlesland development in Greystones was discussed briefly at this week's local electoral area meeting on Monday morning.

Fianna Fail's Kathleen Kelleher requested that Wicklow County Council take steps to ensure that adequate public transport along with An Post facilities be made available to Charlesland residents.

A bit of a U-Turn for Ms Kelleher; wasn't she one of the councillors who opposed Charlesland in the first place?

I've had several assurances from Dublin Bus over the last 12 months about the imminent arrival of a bus service to Charlesland. The last one I got was for March. Gave up mailing them, usually have to wait ages for a response and then just get let down again. I was told by a councillor recently that they were lobbying Dublin Bus about it. Maybe it might happen in the future. I feel that Dublin transport generally has been slow to react the vast urbanisation of it's suburban greenland. Many new developments now advertise 'free bus service' to luas/dart stations.

Dublin Bus are currently reviewing their entire network with a view to making it less radial (ie all routes running to the City Centre) and instead have routes linking up to the Dart, Luas and QBCs. However this is going to take years to implement.

Kilcoole is also badly served given its increased population - a new service to Kilcoole via Charlesland is whats needed.

As for An Post - how long does it take to erect a postbox for gods sake?

It's not erecting the post box that's the problem, it's probably dealing with the CWU that causes the problems.
