Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Chris still has something I want, but I want it so much I'm not even going to mention it for fear of someone else snatching it before I get a chance. My god it's agonizing.

I spotted them yesterday during my daily routine drooling on chrisguitars.

I wouldn't kick that RR out of bed for eating chips (is that the right expression you mad Irish bastards?), but I don't like that Mockingbird at all. At all at all.

Can't get over that body shape...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,658 ✭✭✭Patricide

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

But I wouldn't be playing a trans red RR :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

Nothing against BC Rich at all, but it's just the Mockingbird body shape...it looks deformed. Actually it looks like I left it on the stove for too long.

I prefer the superstrat shape (obviously) - but not the finish! :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

that finish only works if its camoflagued into a spandex background

ok fey just buy it!!!!! :p

    I wouldn't mind:

    a Richie Sambora sig Strat,
    a Jimmie Vaughan Strat or
    a Muddy Waters Tele.

And a decent 5 string bass for recording.

And a boutique fuzz pedal (maybe a Tonefactor Huckleberry).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah the sambora is nice but for an artist strat it would be a toss up between jeff beck and eric johnsons

and i've never been a fuzz man (more of a drive dude) although boutique pedals are always nice

Truth be told, it isn't the nicest Mockingbird out there. This on the other hand:

    B.C.Rich%20MG%20TRD.50.jpg

Or how about this! Or this? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

The two in the auctions I'm less hot on but that one you have there in your post is gorgeous. Black mockingbirds are nice but a bit meh when you compare them to something like that. Or this:
    naturalmockcombo.jpg

It's about the only guitar that I like in a natural finish.

For once I think out tastes have intersected. ;)

That black Mockingbird is the only one I've every GASsed over. Those fancy ones... well... meh

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,361 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Doc, just get yourself a nice black strat, single humbucker, single volume and a Kahler and you won't want that Mockingbird.

Well then, I think it should find a new home with you, Doc. I mean for $350, you'd be ****ing mad not to! Admit it, you need that guitar and it needs you.

    It's easy - it's "BonJovi".

    :p

I love the binding and the finish on that red Mockingbird, but again, the body is just a disaster in my eyes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

I don't normally like pointy guitars but there's something curvy and sexy about a Mockingbird.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Ignore Ancient1... It's not a strat, why would he like it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

Ah, but can you play that flamed top 7 in a jazz quartet?

Although he's probably right, I'm too lazy to check however so I'll just assume it's right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i could chance it chances are they'd be a trio after about 30mins but it'd be worth it to own the guitar :p

kebab owningly is the new standard for bein a c**t good man fey

    edit: no offence ancient1 :D

Ah, but there are exceptions of course! I love Vs, Explorers and even the odd Warlock. I don't have pointy-guitar phobia, but I just cannot understand that Mockingbird. It's wrong. :p

I don't like that black Mockingbird at all, it's horrible looking. Now the RR on the other hand, I wouldn't know anything worthy enough to play on it :P

My GAS for these instruments has been quashed somewhat by my main man Bert in Germany telling me it will be only two or three more weeks :D
