Did anyone else think some of the recommendations by this committee are just downright ludicrous?

    Black boxes in cars ?
Refusal to insure non professionaly trained drivers ???
All cars should have cruise controll ??????
Banning left hand drive cars ?????????
Asking Car companies to make their cars safer ??????????

Did these guys drink the money set aside for this and get one of their 5 yr old grandsons to come up with these proposals? ( If not pity they didn't it would have been better )

This really does smack of knee jerking idiots saying what they think the people of this island want to hear rather than any proper proposals that may make a difference.

    Why didnt they say :
Remove vrt and vat from safety features on new/ imported cars.
    Fix the roads.
Make the driving test worth actually doing rather than a spin about the city.
    Regulate and licence driving instructors.
    Enforce laws.

As a keen motorist find I am getting offended more and more every day by the idiots in government, who lack a bit of backbone intelligence and ability to do a thing about the carnage on our roads.

    Rant over

For fecks sake what are they at. Think of the cost of these "thinktanks" coming up with idiotic answers to the road deaths which cost the government nothing and leave the blame with someone else?

I agree far better driver education needed, sort out the road network, more cops with better powers of enforcement and equipment and sort out the licence mess.

Enforce provisional drivers without licenced drivers and L plates, but only when they reduce the wait for the test to a reasonable amount of time. Lower insurance premiums for people who take the bother to do advanced driving courses, put cameras on roads that are notorious for crashes, not speed cameras but ones that can show dangerous driving. And actually do something rather than coming up with half-assed ideas.

With that kind of "leadership" on display, why am I not surprised that people just do what they think is best when it comes to driving. At least there is a fair chance of people getting it less wrong than those imbecils in the commi-tee
