    Hey everybody,
Just wondering would anybody know/ have advice on cleaning a small engine oil spill in the boot of my car?
Stupid container wasn't fastened properly and a small quantity of oil spilled out onto my (until then) spotless boot- major piss off!
    Any help?

Take the carpet out ,get a foam carpet cleaner and keep dabbing it with a clean dry cloth you should get most of it out, I dont bother buying expensive car upholstery cleaners and normally use household ones which work fine

If you have a spare wheel take out the board above it and see has it soaked through too,

    Best of luck with it

Soak as much as possible out with kitchen paper or similar. Try not to spread it around too much. Use 'Vanish' carpet cleaner for the final clean with very hot water to remove as much oil as possible.

Had this problem myself a while back, and found it very very very difficult to remove.

Wash-up liquid and a sponge didn't do it. The boot liner went for 4 full cycles in the washing machine with detergent, and that didn't do it.

For some reason the only thing that worked well was a bar of soap, and plenty of rinsing with water. Didn't get it all out tho, maybe 95%

    Dry straw is good!

You could try washing it off with engine degreaser - that should breakdown the oil.

Throw a load of washing powder on it, agitate with a coarse brush, wash with hot water. Should get a lot of the oil out
