Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BitTorrent over Wireless

    Hey,

I have BB with Smart. I've a D-Link wireless router connected to the Smart BB router. All works fine. I can't seem to get the nat mapping for BitTorrent though.

If i take the wireless router out of the picture, and cable direct from the BB router, then BitTorrent works fine.

I'm obviously missing something on the wireless router. Could someone please advise?

    Thanks,

    K.

Is the wireless router setup as bridging mode?

Your wireless router probably has a built in firewall that blocks all incoming ports. You'll have to set up some form of Port Forwarding, not sure how to do it in a D-Link Router but this is usually covered fairly well in the manual...

setup up a static ip in ur dhcp settings for the pc

    port forard the port

tell bittorrent in its connection settings to use the port

    should work.

    portforward.com if u get stuck

Don't waste your time with a static IP address - it's not necessary unless you've got a dozen or so PCs on your network, because your dynamically assigned address doesn't actually change when you've only got one or two devices n your network.

Your problem is that you've got two routers in place, and even if you've got portforwarding set up on one, the second one will block the forwarded ports.

The fact that you say that you can take the DLink "out of the picture" suggests that you don't, as irish1 suggests, have the Smart modem set up in bridging mode. While you can do what you want to do by configuring the D-link router to be in the Smart routers DMZ, you'dd be better of setting the Smart router in "bridging mode", and following the directions on www.portforward.com for setting up port forwarding on the DLink. (Ignore the static IP stuff though - it's not necessary, and you can just skip it).

I use Bittorrent all the time and it works fine if you have uPnP on the router.
