Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Belkin wireless router

Can anyone help me out with a Belkin wireless router I just bought? It's a Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless G router. I bought it to use with NTL broadband. I can get it working and it works fine, the only problem is that it's not a secure network. I've gone thru all the different connection types in the setup but it's still an unsecure network. The connection options are:

    Static IP
    Dynamic IP
    PPTP
    PPPoE

How can I set this router up so I can put a password into it so no neighbours can get onto my connection?

You can setup a network key (WPA or WEP) in Control Panel->Wireless Network Setup Wizard. This issue is probably best suited for the Wireless forum.

None of these have any relevance to securing a Wireless network.

In the Web interface for the router, there should be a menu item called "Encryption". Click on that menu item. Select WPA-PSK. Select TKIP, enter a password (up to 63 characters). On your wireless workstation or laptop, you'll have to enter the same password. Only computers with that password will be able to connect to your wireless network .

There are a number of other steps that you can take, but this is the single most important step.

Not accepting the above statement btw:

    Shot one:

This section is where Foxwood is telling you to go to configure the 'Encription'.

    Shot Two:

Enter the SSID (Name that you want to call your wireless network, can be anything) on this page. Channel to use: 1, 6 or 11 are the best choices but it all depends if you have other networks near you which are the best for you.

    Shot Three:

Select all the options as in this shot but in the PSK field enter the passphrase that you want to use to encript the network. This will have to be entered in each machine using the WiFi connection ptherwise they won't be able to authenticate on the network, which is exactly what you want for the neighbours.

    TIP:
If you are having problems getting connected then temporarily disable the encription (on both the Router AND computers) and try again, only when you have it working then enable the encription as if it breaks again then you know its the encription thats not setup properly. Best to store the passphrase on a usb stick and copy and paste it in to rule out typos.

    They changed the interface!

The older manual on the Belkin website has an Encryption menu.

Cool, never saw the old interface, hopefully this will be enough for the OP to sort their situation.
