    Has a bass line
    dim-dah-dah-dee-dum-dee-dum-dee-dum-dah-dah....

    Followed by a distintive keyboard/guitar cadenza...

    I think it is a cover of Helen Shapiro's "Walking back to happiness"
    I don't think the vocal line ever cuts in during the advert .. it's just
    the lead in....

    It sounds to me like a song which Joe Dolan (of all schlamoozers)
    might have as part of his repertoire.
    Can anyone help me here ?

    Maybe this is novel for this forum/board but I've put up a very
    basic 20sec recording on a podcasting site with a very rough
    take on the riff of that cheesy song which appears on the Heineken
    advert.

    At least it is better than my previous "dee-dah-dum" attempt and
    maybe someone may be able to figure it out from my rusty
    guitar take on it ...

    Any takers ?

    to be honest I can't really remember the substance of the advert.
    I'll have to watch out for it in the next day or so.
    It is definitely one of them which is currently running on RTE channels.

    I should have known that as I saw the movie (but some time ago...
    I knew about Stealer's Wheel "Stuck in the middle with you" but couldn't
    place that familiar tune. The vocalist sounds quite hip to begin with but
    he degenerates into a cross between Joe Dolan and Demis Roussos
    by the time the chorus line kicks in. I can imagine ladies underwear
    being hurled in the air around that point :)
    It's a rather dated and somewhat tacky tune tho'.
