a harddrive of 400gb i need - advise you can ? (yoda)

    Was looking at the for sale area and someone had a 400gb seagate for sale but on ocuk they sale for about 190e.but on komplett they have a 400gb samsung with 16mb catch for like 145 what the delio there. oh and also whats the best brand for performance wise.

    If your buyin new, Seagate & Western digital have all got 5 yr warranty, which is what i'd look 4 when buyin. No mention of warranty with samsung one. Dunno much bout samsung hd's. Someone else might recommend them tho. Heard there's not much of a performance difference between new seagate sata2 & raptors.

    Hitachi's were tops for performance, Samsung's tops for quiet last I checked.
    Seagate's new HDDs (the ones with perpendicular storage, the .10 series IIRC) could be better though...
    Anyway, just buy for warranty IMHO - there should only be a few quid difference at any store. And shop around.

    got the seagate got good reviews so now i got a

    300gb seagate 7200.9
    32gb raptor
    320gb seagate 7200.10

    Seagate are my preferred brand due to warranty and silence - I have raptors for the speedy parts :)
