Which PCMCIA card with Eircom DSL WiFi Router

Has any body had to buy a pcmcia card for a laptop for use with the present Eircom router "NETOPIA 2247NWG2". I think there are differences in the wi-fi systems different companies use and while the would work at a basic level down the road there can be problems of compatability. So would like to know even what to avoid. Argos have a C&W card for €29.99. That would suit me fine, but will it work and how well?

The wireless access 802.11 b/g protocols are fairly standardised and pretty much everything will connect to everything.
Just get a good brand of card that can do 802.11G and you should be fine, just remember to switch on WPA and Mac filtering to keep it secure

I've never used C&W gear but it seems to fit the bill

C&W wouldn't be a well known brand. You'll prob get better performance from a linksys, netgear or dlink card.

There have been occassional suggestions that the Netopia wireless router supplied by eircom isn't exactly a stellar performer, in which case you probably wouldn't get better performance from a linksys, netgear or dlink card.

By the way have also emailed to netopia there is a chance they will reply even though their contact phone number is in the USA.

Not doing it now but using BITtorrent, or even msn or yahoo messenger, or Skype with a mic through the laptop.
Would have thought C&W(Cable &Wireless) was well known, but just not a big name in WI-Fi.
Have never used wi-fi and know that privacy and piggy-backing are probs.

C&W card is prob just a rebranded OEM card.

Argos is one of the few UK retailers that has bothered to implement a working .ie website, with pricing in Euro.
