Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How to get the 'Dos' prompt

Hi, I'm running Windows XP. I'm trying to access a programme I have which runs on dos. I can't remember how to get to the dos prompt. I haven't used the programme for years but I now need to access it. If I search my files for 'dos' I get 31 matches. A lot of them seem to be 'file application'. When I click on them I get a brief view of the dos blackboard but it won't let me open them. Anyone any suggestions?

Start -> run -> type COMMAND -> press enter

Try CMD if you want to use long file names

Thanks for that. However as far as I can remember I had to get to the 'C' prompt and I think I typed c:\ which brought me to 'c'. Then I typed my command for the programme. It's telling me that 'c' is not valid. How do I get to it?

You might not have a C drive in your computer.

What is the full path to the program you need to run? Most DOS programs will run happily (in dos mode) when double clicked from Windows Explorer.

When I type 'command' I get C:\docume~1\secret~1>. What I used to type was:

c:\ which brought me to C. Then I typed facil and entered and then facil again which brought me into the programme.

How exactly are you typing it?
The cursor should appear like 'c:\>' and you can change into the directory that your program is 'c:\>cd test' and enter so the cursor will look like 'c:\test>' then if test is the folder that your program was in simply enter the exe or bat file name.

/EDIT unless facil is on the root of c:, your going to have to get into that directory to run it.

cd\ will get you back to the root and cd is for changing directories.
