Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Powerpoint telling me there's a Quicktime fault

I'm doing up a Powerpoint (2000) presentation, and I would really like to add a couple of movies in the lecture. Trouble is I get an error regarding Quicktime if I want to insert a QT-based movie. No problem with Windows-based clips. I think it could be a recent problem, but I don't know from where. I installed the latest version (7.1) of QT to no effect.

IN fact, in addition, when I go to insert (File -> Insert -> Movies & Sounds -> Movies & Sounds -> Movies from File -> . pop-up box selection), only Media Palyer-based movies are listed. I have to select 'All Files' to select the movie I want to insert, and that is when I get the error message ("file is non-standard or QT not installed properly"). The same movies play fine in either QT player, or web browsers.

    TIA,
    Seanie.

As it ships , powerpoint will not work with the latest Quicktime files , you have options however ,

Either buy a license for QTVR ( this is a control that will let you use Quicktime in Powerpoint ) for 150 dollars , !!

Or convert the quicktime files to a Microsoft Windows friendly format ,

Anyway all the info is in this excellent reference here ,

Cheers andy. I think I'll try the conversion method then!
