My favourite tattooist is Sean From Zulu, he does exactly what you ask him to do and he'll suggest a few things too.
I got outlines of 8 stars on my ankle, and when i went back to get them coloured, i just wanted black shading but he suggested going for a bit of colour so i did and i went from this
