Dropped in to have a swift half and come back to find my van looking like this. Has anyone any idea what could do this sort of damage - it doesnt look like paint from another car, and the bottom half of the door is completely intact so I dont think that I hit it off anything.

Loooking into getting the CCTV footage and see what really happened.

It's not a very clear pic tbh. It almost looks like heat bubbles from the pic.

Something high with a big overhang reversed into you, turned the steering wheel fully opposite (which caused the rear overhang to turn slightly which explains the circular shape of the scratch) and then drove off again.

Does this stuff look like GRP residue?

In that case I'd say it was a motorhome ...:D :D

    (Wasn't me !!)

Looks like the marks made by the "tail-swing" of a small truck.

It looks like a cement/gravel type mark to me. Have you got any moving walls in the area.

That's what you get for drink driving!

Yeah- I'd agree with this. It looks like something rubbed it and then moved back.

You see it is the circular thing that is confusing me. And I dont think it is concrete - it seems more like a type of plastic/plasterboard type of stuff. And no there are no moving walls in the area :-)

I'm thinking maybe a plastic bumper of another vehicle (truck). The swirl could have been caused by the truck steering. Some vehicles change height (marginally) as the camber angles adjusts as the wheels steer.

Why were you drinking while in charge of a vehicle? (serious question)

Maybe not a commendable thing to do, but a half pint is well within legal limits.

You don't know that. It varies from person to person!!!

Anyhow justifying it just makes it seem an OK thing to do. Just stupid!!

Not justifying it. Just saying it is more legal than driving at 101km/h where an 100km/h limit applies!

Can we stay on topic now?

I only dropped into the pub to leave presents for the kids, and to take care of some wounded small animals. Well I did have a few, but I know that I didnt hit the thing. I dont see how it is even possible that I made the mark given the nature of the mark anyway.
