Is this a ranking tournament this year? Looks like it from the draw.

    Sure is.

Come on Ken, see if you can make it from number 2 to number 1 in the rankings this year!

They are showing the programme about Alex Higgins again on RTE 1 right now.

That was a great programme. Especially for people like myself who had heard all this legend about Alex Higgins but hadn't heard a lot of the (sometimes crazy) stories. It was put together very well.

Yeah true enough. Although you'd need someone who could both a) type very fast and b) be fluent in Irish - quite the niche I'd say!

I watched it, I was always a major fan of Alex, I was actually a VIP at Goffs the year he won it and spent some time with him in the players lounge after the game. Was one of my favourite child hood memories. I was only 10, but my Mam had represented Ireland in Ladies snooker that year thats how we got there.

Back on topic.......Anyone else think Ken needs a short back and sides?

I didn't actually realise that Doherty was 2nd, I thought Ronnie was ahead of him.

He's top of the provisionals thanks to an excellent last season:

I didn't catch much of this tournament but I knew Ding would beat Doherty. You'll always get good odds on 27 ranked player against the no.2 so if I had any sense I'd have backed Ding. I can't see Ken ever beating him in his career. :)
