LOL I was just listening to 98fm there and their doing some competition where they ask Dubs questions
about Dublin and depending on how many they get right they get tickets to the hill for the upcoming Dublin game. Its very much made for simpletons - or you would have thought.

Cue the question: The small Island just on the Northside of Howth is known by what name?

Cue the budding contestant: 'Eh, I dunno, eh Killiney?' - Killiney!!!!!!!!!?! LOL.

    :(

So how many pages are you looking for this "Dublin vs The-Rest-of-the-Country" thread to get to... 1?... 3?... 5?

It's not the size of your thread you know, it's what you put in it...

Ok... well I might as well get it started:

It's "ain't *too* difficult"... anyone from Dublin would know that... Goddd!

Funny, cuz nothing in the original post says anything about the rest of the country, just that some dude from Dublin couldn't answer a question about Dublin.

    For shame!!!! :D

Ireland's Eye, though there's Bull Island too...if you get confused with North and South. But it's not Kilkenny.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭joe_chicken

Ok... so what exactly is the point of this thread?

That some people don't know about Ireland's Eye?

Not really thread worthy is it?

Or that all Dubs are stupid... but then you're a Dub... very confusing

    Ireland's eye...
Isn't that just the nick name.

Its not that he didnt know about Irelands eye but the fact he even thought Killiney was on the Northside. Surely all Dubs must know what side of the river Killiney is on! Even I know that:D . How a Dub could think Irelands eye (which is populated by sheep) is Killiney is perplexing really:D

I'd imagine he didn't know the answer and just took a wild stab at it, spurting out the first thing to come into his head.

I used to listen to a radio show on 98Fm on a Sunday night I think it was.

The something of night with Niall Boyland (maybe) and Anita Ward. I liked that show.

I pretty much stopped listening to the radio when Adrian Kennedy starting the Sex Talk segment - skangers talking blowjobs is not what I want to hear.

I've listened to the Jack and Ally yoke on Spin a couple of times but the repeats are a pain, also Spin play too much **** music.

Imagine a Killiney person listening to that and being put in the same bracket as a northsider!:D

    Disgraceful!!

    Us Northsiders know our place.

It's not, It's quite definitely north. I live there, y'see.

If you are at Howth village you are almost looking straight out at Ireland's Eye. Lambay Island is larger and further north. I'm a southsider and former winner of the Just A Minute Quiz by the way. So there are plenty of us Dubs that know about their own city and other things.

There are of course plenty of Dubs and indeed others in the city that pass buildings there and other monuments in the city and don't know what they are or anything about them. You had those bozos who got involved in the riot on O'Connell Street last February who reportedly didn't know where Leinster House was when the marchers had moved in that direction.

Is Iceland a valid answer or did they specify how far north?

Now if you know your geography, you would not really call Iceland north of Howth. It is north west of it or even north north west of it, and that is by going through the rest of Ireland. It is hardly a small island either. We'll allow you that one as it is well outside Dublin.
