Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok I suppose it is time I started to obey the law...

    I'm looking at this

Does anyone have any experience of it? And why does it say on the nokia site that it needs professional instalation? It's just a screen that you attach to the dash and a control that you attach somewhere handy like the lid of the glove compartment right? How does it communicate with your radio? via an fm frequency? or does it just auto mute the car radio and how? It's also totally wireless isnt it? Theres no wiring up involved is there?

    It's here for about €400

Theres another cheaper option that has a screen and definitely does talk to your radio somehow? link It's sony ericson but compatable with my nokia seemingly,I'm wondering about the sound quality though compared to the 616?

And then theres an ultra cheapo sony

What do ye all think ? What are the options for a simple device without wiring that I can literally plug in and play?
The budget extends to about €400 or so for an all singing & dancing gadget ( ie one that recognises my phone in pocket automatically when I turn on the ignition and whose base unit just sticks into a cigarette lighter or something ) but if it can be done for way less than that all well and good.

Could anyone here explain the options and comment on the links

    Thanks

The 616 is Nokias car kit phone.. theres a lot more to it than what you actually see on the dash.
need professional install allright or it wont mute your radio and automatially turn on with the ignition..
for the budget you mention you should have no problem getting a car kit. Try the parrot delux kit..from the fone factory in ballymount..

Look at the Parrot CK3100, easy to install if your radio uses ISO (or you have get ISO adapter cables), like the Nokia is has an LCD display.

There is a new simple Nokia bluetooth car kit on the market that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket which is a lot cheaper. It should recognise your phone as soon as you get in the car or turn on the ignition.

If you want a better price on the 616, let me know.

If you are into Gadgets and have a €400 ish budget I'd suggest getting a new car radio!!

    Like this one Linky
I had the model up from it the DEH-P70BT
    This
And it was a great unit.
Easy to install and depending on fone you can load your phonenook into the radio so the display shows who's calling.
    Also has Voice dialling

    Great unit IMO
