Hotwheels beat me to it, but anyone interested who can't make the meeting can PM me.

Also, marshalls are provided with dinner after the rally at HQ.

Sorry, Grasshopa. It was in the Raheen Woods in Athenry. Which stage did you end up on?

Thanks to anyone who came out - it ended up being a great day. I wanted to at least get to say thanks to everyone who came out for stage 1, but unfortuntely got tied up and didn't make it down stage.

I was on stages 1 and 3, junction 8. Was a bit disappointed that stage 1 was cut short so soon, but was a bit grateful after blowing the whistle for 100 cars on stage 3 :p

Everything went well anyway, save for the usual few gobs on a suicide mission. See ye in February

    See ye in February

Were you the lad with the extremely short haircut by any chance?

If I remember right, there were a group of you there together. By any chance do you know any of the other marshalls who were on stages 1&3? If you do, will you tell them that I said thanks for all their help - I was the stage commander on 1&3, but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to thank everyone properly or get their numbers to tell them about the marshalls party! In case you couldn't tell, I was a mite flustered and disorganised when I was assigning the junctions!!! First time as stage commander - I'll know better if I'm ever asked back (or at least I hope I'll do better!!!)

Sorry ye didn't get to see much on 8; the drivers seemed to like the wall at 5! A lot!!! :p

Also, thanks for the great cleanup ye all did; saved us hours of work when it was all finished. We were out from 4am setting up, so were a bit tired at that stage. :(

Hotwheels - what were you doing out there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 751 ✭✭✭Hotwheels

Anybody who was at the Menlo Park for the briefing will have got a Txt about the bash on Friday, there is transport provided as well for folks in town who want to leave their wheels at home.....:)

I wasn't out over the weekend, but anyone who Marshalled on stage one got the best one, last time that was run in the International a Porshe tried to climb a tree just after the start :)

A lot of people would have never driven it before, and found it bites....:D
Its a great stage, hope they run it again sometime...:)

It was nearly 10 years since stage 1 was run before! And one Impreza didn't even hit third gear before he hit a boulder on stage 3!!!!

Hotwheels - pity you didn't make it out at the weekend. For a day when we were assured of heavy rain, we really got lucky with the weather!!!

I'll stick to the two galway rallys, hard enough trying to bullsh*t knowing anything about cars for 2 days a year :p

No, I'm not the guy with the very short haircut but came with a group of 5, would rather not give out too identifying details over the internet, but suffice to say my dad was driving in the rally and I was at the menlo meeting.

Saw one of the MkII Escorts clip a ditch and crash into a wall... that was fun. I'll be there on Friday hopefully if I can get work off. What's a good time to show up?

Saw the escort parked in the field - kudos to whoever sorted that out!

WRT Friday, I'd say show up whenever it suits yourselves, but I'd say around 10pm myself. Do you know where the place is? Can you pass the details onto the rest of your group? Thanks.

How did your dad get on?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,349 ✭✭✭nobodythere

He says what he always says when I ask him how he got on: "I finished" He was no.133.

I've already passed the word along, see you there possibly

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,184 ✭✭✭Fey!

Glad to hear he finished. Just copped on that I was talking to you at the very end of the rally while I was giving you my autograph!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 751 ✭✭✭Hotwheels

I know stage 1 like the back of me hand, I helped run it many years ago...It ranks among me favorite, next to the Black Road (the full version, includes wastelands) and Lough Nafooey...
We had some great crack out there over the years, and stories...:D

I did not post details of the Party, everyone who was in menlo and left their Mob No would have got a Txt from GMMC...and Joe was busy passing the word around to everyone else....

Loads of spot prizes I'm told, and if past parties are anything to go by, it should be great crack.... and not be confined to one nite.....
