Information on projects currently being undertaken by the Iarnród Éireann Construction Unit by Corporate Communications

Iarnród Éireann’s Construction Unit is currently undertaking infrastructure works on various lines across the network. This is to facilitate the upgrading of track and signals and to provide for the provision of new stations. These infrastructural improvements will allow for an even better service to meet the ever expanding demand for rail travel.

Every endeavour is being made to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible to residents and the business community adjacent to where works are taking place. However, as the majority of works are taking place on working railway lines, some night and weekend working is inevitable.

Below is a list of works that will be taking place in the coming weeks. Details of these works will be updated regularly on this section of the website or for further details please call the Construction Unit’s community relations line on 1890 25 35 55.

Works taking place in the Adamstown Area
    • Platform construction is ongoing to end September
    • Roof frame to be put in place 27th/28th August (weather permitting)
    • Construction of stairs and lift shafts ongoing to mid September.

I know Adamstown station is under construction but it isn't clear if Parkwest station is being built yet?

What's happening at Phoenix Park? Is this platform 10 or is it the old cement works site over at Cabra?

Also the southern end of Tara St. station has got a make over with a new concourse under the arches. Any one know when it opens and when the rest of the station that has about 4 different styles will be getting the make over?

its on the Navan road - they're building a new station to tie in with the huge development that is happening at the old racecourse. I've heard that it may ultimately replace Ashtown station, but that might just be a rumour.

How will all of those new developments alongside the Canal at Ashtown be served then?

AFAIK they will be served by the new station a little towards Castleknock. This is being built by the developer of the massive Phoenix Park Racecourse development. (darn, a hotel and casino would have been better  )
