H Dip or Masters - the difference?

Can anybody tell me the exact difference between these two! I understand that can be either full time or part time and that a H Dip can be used to teach but thats about it. Must a H Dip be related to your degree course? Whats the difference between a taught masters programme or research masters? thanks
