Metal Detector...

Hi,
Im looking for a basic metal detector just to get a feel for the hobby and see if i like it ....


And was wondering are those ones in the toy stores any good ?? If they are i will just get one of those but dont mind in the slightest getting a used one

The last time I was in Maplins they had a range going from €100 to €400 Euros.

I was always interested in this myself, as I live in a fairly historic part of County Meath, however, just remember to get the permission of the land-owner before you go tramping across their land discovering hidden gold!

Ya i know.......my dad said it was much better hunting with a metal detector 10 years + ago because there was no law but now there is a law that you cant go metal detecting at a castle or historic place Eg Church , Castles , Monastaries etc etc

PS : STill looking for a metal detector..............come on guys :rolleyes:

Tell you what, me baggsies the sceptres and goblets, you can have the dubloons and wands.

I've just downloaded from uknova a 6-part series produced by the BBC on some of the finds of recent treasure hunters in the UK.

My interested is piqued, but I've got too much on at the moment to go sweeping around a dewey field at dawn just at the moment.
