"They may look like MPs, but beneath that tweedy exterior, Oxford's Young Knives rock. Mixing the intelligence of Pulp with the art-rock of Devo and supercharging the whole thing with an almost Pixies-like ferocity, these three young men take a sonic scalpel to love, loss and the banality of modern Britain. Not only that, but their bassist is called House of Lords." - NME

THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 16TH '06
    FIRST TASTE
    @ CRAWDADDY, DUBLIN

    PRESENTS,
    THE YOUNG KNIVES ALBUM PLAYBACK
The Album "VOICES OF ANIMALS AND MEN" is out next Friday, August 18th

Their new single "Weekends And Bleak Days" (aka Hot Summer, Hot, Hot Summer) was released Friday.

ALSO, THE FOLLOWING DAY (NEXT THURSDAY) - THE YOUNG KNIVES are Live in Ireland at Dublin's Marlay Park with Director, Faithless, and Kasabian next Thursday, August 17th.
DIRECTOR on-stage approx. 5.30pm. THE YOUNG KNIVES on-stage approx. 6.25pm.

This week, First Taste is proud to be hosting the album playback for one of our favourite bands, THE YOUNG KNIVES.

The trio won the prestigious "Road To V" competition last year (gaining them a spot on the main stage at the V Festival) and return to play the V Festival again at Chelmsford, and Stafford next Saturday and Sunday.

Their fantastic debut album "Voices of Animals and Men" is out next Friday August 18th on Transgressive Records via Warner Music.

The Young Knives have been on our radar nearly a year and we've been waiting for what seems like forever for "Voices of Animals and Men" to come out. The Andy Gill (Gang Of Four) produced album will surely see the band coming to the attention of music fans everywhere.

We'll have a full playback of the album at 10.00pm and lots of Young Knives related giveaways.

First Taste will also be playing plenty of new music that you won't hear anywhere else for weeks. We'll have plenty of Krombacher available at far too good a price to publicly announce and we'll even be giving the stuff away to people down early!!

We'll also have a limited number of copies of First Taste's autumn mix CD. These will be really limited so make sure you ask the DJs for a copy.

And don't forget Antics is on after and the only people who can give you free passes are the First Taste DJs!!

    See you there...
