Adelaide Street. Behind what used to be Jolly Rogers. In what used to be Better Bodies gym I think.

There are plenty of 'online' casino's, and I have been playing on them for a long time, with a substantial profit to date ;) .

Why we do not have proper casino's in Ireland is a mystery to me, it would certainly add to our tourism attractions, considering our weather.

Thats news to me, where are they ?.. it might save friends of mine having to fly to 'Las Vegas', which they do regularly.:)

I have to admit, that 'European Roulette' on 'William Hill Casino' is my weakness, yet I am still on top even though I have no formula.

There are around 20 in Dublin alone, here are two of the best.

The FitzThis is by far the best and most friendliest casino in Dublin.

Sporting Emporium this is the biggest in the country its on 3 floors and is a nice spot with Valet parking. Big plus is a free bar.

    Dub13.,

Many thanks for those links. I never knew they existed. I will check them out to see how they compare with William Hill. Although I am still puzzled about none in the North West which IMHO badly needs a ' real life ' Las Vegas'

Not in the hills, but in Ballybofey of course, which is the centre of the universe.

I must have a chat with Barry Jackson about this, as he has expanded the Hotel so much, I am not sure he knows what to do with half of it ?..:D

The sporting Emporium is a fantastic place, but give me colossus anyday!!

The NorthWest really could do with a casino like that. I heard tentative steps were taken about opening one in LK about 2 years ago, but councillers under pressure from religious groups ended this. Supposedly some people would not like the flood of gamblers coming across the border to use them

Yes, In my lifetime as far back as I can remember, gambling casinos were illegal in the Republic, and it is only since we became members of the E.U. that 'some people' have been given license's to open.

However, times are changing and a Donegal 'Las Vegas' area, is a real possibility.

    Let's hope it becomes a reality ?..:D

As opposed to er.... gamblers going to Buncrana and Bundoran to play the slot machines. Ahhh, but they are okay as they are all located in "amusement arcades".

    Smashey,

You are winding me up, amusement arcades are for children, and are a rip-off.

Unlike real Casino's where you have to be over a certain age and become a legitimate legally regulated member, before you are admitted. The procedures of becoming a member are strict, as they should be.

just to add a point here.

I think our beloved Minister for Justice is currently working on legislation trying to close down casino's.
I heard an article on a talk radio and the irish gambling board, or something along those lines, where saying that they believe in legislation but as always the legislation should be in consultation with those in legitimate business practise.
It seems that even though their may be some professionally ran outfits, it does not always equate in that light across the board.

But I remember a few of these opening in dublin under the guise of a smoking club or gentleman's club which had extra curricular activities to ease the boredom.

An off topic point, Welcome back Paddy, i see the activity has increased with your pressing topics of discussion.

Hope all is good with you and once again good to see you back. I noticed your avitar has gotten younger while you were away, does this mean you have been in traingin or summit :):):)

Our great minister is now having to regulate the casino's and won't be closing them down it looks... He was under pressure from his own party, there is alot of taxes to be had from regulating the casino's and not closing them.

I played blackjack in sligo ...nice place ..well run...lost 50 very quickly and left!!!:o how does the poker thing work ...do they take a cut of your winnings?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,663 ✭✭✭JoeyJJ

haven't been in yet, but for cash games they charge 5 euro every half and hour to place, most places take a rake from pots, this is an american way, although some casinos in dublin use this method afaik. Think i would rather raking from pot.

Not sure what tournament play they have.

Is there some problem with people saying what town the casino is in? This was brought up last week. I can only assume it is the same casino.

No, it simply means that being relieved from your episodes of 'unreasonable moodiness' has made me look twenty years younger :D, and also taking into consideration the fact that you had just become a 'First time Father' makes me be a bit more forgiving than I might have been.;)

No,and I want a proper Casino in Ballybofey. Jackson's would be an ideal location as long as we bar Barry from the table's :D .

AFAIK the owner would be barred from playing in his own casino, in any case ;)
