I seen that! I was on the way to the cinema in Kilkenny and seen it as I came over the R.Dinan bridge!

Seen lightning here in South Laois around 10-10.30pm also.

Some more on snowbie's detector over Waterford S.Kilkenny now, looks like a nice bit is on the way, should be interesting around 3am.

Showers seem to be moving north and tilting westwards.
Nice easterly here at the moment.

They are getting some heavy TS in the UK today, the rain seems to be heading west from wales. Do you reckon we will see any TS in the east or more likely the south east.

There are a lot of land based small but heavy showers at the moment and some exstensive heavy showers in the Western Irish sea.
I think that Low pressure area is quite wide and moving away and filling slowly.
The implication being that the showers get weaker eventually but because of the widesness of that LP those showers in the Irish sea arent circulating as much as they could be,they are more slow moving.
Some of them may still fringe the East coast tonight and if you are under one you will be drenched!

Thunder is a possibility but less likey now I think.

Possibly, going by snowbie's lightning detector. i'm not sure, but even though the jet stream should be pushing things north with a slight westerly element , i think there is actually a slight easterly element judging by this http://www.meteireann.ie/latest/rainfall_radar.asp?ani=y
