    Just a heads up
Thunderstorms approaching the south coast now i'd say that the south/southeast and possibly a bit up the east coast could see some action tonight and tomorrow. It could slip a bit further east into England though, i'm not quite sure yet.

Had very heavy rain earlier with thunder in Booterstown, it started around 2:50 and finished by about 3:30, i saw it moving away at around 4 o'clock as i was heading for the dart. There was some lovely mammatus lit by the setting sun.
P.S. I only noticed the estofex update now, seems to really be expecting at least one or two tornados, earlier and again tonight.

    DISCUSSION

    Ireland ... Scotland

Back-bent occlusion of weakly defined frontal system currently crossing the W British Isles is associated with scattered TSTMS. Deep shear of 35 m/s and low-level shear of 15 m/s should maintain a threat for severe-wind gusts as well as for a few tornadoes over Ireland and Scotland. Behavior of the convection as it moves farther inland is somewhat uncertain, but strong deep-layer lift should remain in place and may aid in sustaining the convection and the associated severe weather threat.

    Ireland

Next field of enhanced convection currently over the Atlantic may also morph into a comma cloud, though probably not as well defined given weaker shear and weaker upward forcing. This activity may reach W Ireland late in the period. As strong (12 m/s) 0-1 km shear remains in place, some severe wind and tornado threat seems to exist also with this activity, especilly near the coast.

Yup that looks like it alright, although Snowbies detector didn't register anything when i checked it.
Power was knocked off here for a second too just as i saw another flash. Seems to have passed on now though..

Just looking out the window at the underside of the cloud, and it looks like mammatus clouds, pity it isn't nighttime, and being lit up by lightning, cos it'd make a great picture

I was asleep this morning around 6ish when I was lifted several inches off the bed by the loudest clap of thunder I've ever heard - I genuinely thought for a second the house had been hit by lightning. The whole house shook with the noise.

I can't see anything around here today that looks like it was hit, but anything that wakes me up is pretty bloody special! ;)

It seems to be kicking of a bit down the south west coast. Hopefully this will creep eastwards during the night. ;)

Yup had some decent lightning and thunder here last night... too lazy to get a few shot of it though (not sure if i could either)
Still quite windy as well at the moment,

Thought i'd bump this up with some heavy rain and thundery weather possible on the East coast on Friday, atm it looks like an area of instability and thundery weather will move north out of France on Friday evening and may clip the east coast as it moves up

Must be an upgrade from yesterday as i posted on the other thread that there was a slim chance.Thats a chart from the summer months.Should be some instability involved but how west it gets is another thing.I still reckon slim but an approaching front from the west meeting this humid air a convergence type zone would be outcome, but a long shot.Nonetheless homegrown could spring up here in the east.
